SORSEM

Your only source for professionals

Sorsem is a downloadable native IOS and Android app for connecting customers of legal support services (court reporting services, litigation support services, videography services, interpreter services) with service providers, legal professionals, and legal support professionals.

>>THE OPPORTUNITY

The legal industry is constantly on the move. Scheduling services is a big part of the business when it comes to putting in place a legal case, from the first deposition of a witness to the final trial. Legal services agencies and firms are constantly looking to fill positions in a time frame that sometimes requires last-minute additions of services or cancellations and also change of locations. The ideal solution is to create a system where all legal professionals and their services are available, and clients can schedule them to cover jobs in specific locations.

>>APPROACH

Competitive Analysis:

To design an iOS and Android version of a mobile app that solves and facilitates job coverage and scheduling for the legal industry.

ANALYSIS #1: ULEADZ

What does the app do?

Uleadz is a professional service that keeps jobs on track by automating their workflow and customer communications.

What I liked about this app?

Although it looked promising in the onboarding process, I hit a pain point. Since I was only exploring the app, I did not want to give information away, especially my phone number. The phone number was a required input field, so I didn’t go through it. I did like the progress bar while creating an account.

ANALYSIS #2: SERVICE M8

What does the app do?

Service m8 is the app for trade contractors & service businesses, plumbing, HVAC, etc. It is also a job, staff, and client management solution.

What I liked about this app?

This app conceptually would be similar to what Sorsem offers within the legal industry. I was able to take a tour without having to create a profile. That was a great feature. This app is native to IOS and Android.

>>USER PERSONAS

Since during the process of this project there was n o access or time to make interviews, I approached the method of creating an Ad-Hoc Persona implementing Tamara Adlin’s persona template to add an empathetic focus to the design. Since I’ve worked on the legal industry for 7 years then, I was able to construct Use Personas based on my experience with those kind of professionals.

>>PROPOSED SOLUTION

The first version of the application is for a specific target audience within the legal and paralegal industry. It will help connect all legal industry professionals in various areas of the country to have a network for job coverage and services.

MVP

The first task would be to complete a profile to make yourself available as a legal professional. Second, the user should be able to schedule a professional by connecting with them and verifying their availability. Third, the user should be able to see how many professionals are within the map, where the user can click and open up the professional’s profile, see its schedule and send a scheduling request.

>>CHALLENGES

Material Design and Android Familiarity:

The biggest challenge in the project presented itself in the unfamiliarity with Android and Material Design guidelines. As an iOS user, I have never used an Android cell phone. Reading the guidelines of Material Design helped but not being able to experience any of the elements live became an issue when it came to adjusting the screens for Android. One thing is reading and watching videos, but being able to use and experience an app under Android’s native guidelines would’ve been easier to grasp. In the end, through thorough research and time, I developed a great solution for the android section of the project.
